silent onez

we haven't been to the west coast for some time, so check this out...

i have two records by a crew called the silent onez. three mc's spittin' rhymes over dope beats, which could easily be from the east. no credits on the labels tho..no mc names or production credits. the twelve inch was put out in '95 while the ep is from '98. you see, there is a gap of three years in between..it's possible that they have had a third release in there. both recordings are on ridiculous records.

i really feel both releases..but especially the first one.

SILENT ONEZ 12" '95

1. EAST MEETS WEST
2. STRAINERS

SILENT ONES EP '98

street poets

if you have an idea of the boston underground scene then you can't ignore the street poets crew! dif productions, polecat and punch (spiked with poison) had a self titled full length cd in '95 on dbk records and altogether released four 12inches. production credits go to dow brain, brad young, my nutz, mob 1 and killa c. (the first?) three releases were on dbk records while polecats "rip" single was put out on ruckus records.

once again, excellent stuff right here! also make sure to get their cd! i can really recommend this.

DIF PRODUCTIONS 12" '95

1. SKINZ
2. SKINZ (REMIX)
3. EVERYDAY LIFE

unfortunately i traded my original copy away a few years back. all i have left is the japanese bootleg which has a wrong catalog number on the label plus a different run out than the og.
it is a pretty obvious bootleg. check this link to www.labelscans.com for pictures of the original issue.

blaque spurm

why not remain it in the depths of the contract recording company?!

another crew on the jersey label was a kombo called blaque spurm. their probably first release was put out on ill labels (5one6) and features two tracks produced by grizz & prodige.

i guess one year later the five artists, namely stylze, papa doc, cuba, j-nap and fyne teamed up with tony d, to release a four cut strong ep on contract. i have to say...every song on this release is dope.

my joints on these two records are "the cycle", "pack ya shit" and "splendid". great stuff folks!

scott lark da sensei

trenton, new jersey

an mc called scott lark da sensei hooks up with the famous producer tony d to release two records in '95 & '96. with his unique nasal rapstyle, lark flows over smooth beats, which fit to the whole concept.

these twelve inches were released on contract, that put out plenty of other dope releases (watch my future posts).

"the movie" is the winner here. this track is dope as fuck..and i nearly forgot about it!

darcsyde

let's go back to new york- it's darcsyde from south jamaica, queens. i'm not sure what their first appearance was, the "all about the cash" 12" or the featuring on the nodyaheadtodis sampler with "moneycide", but it had to be in '96. sinista and doc holiday then returned in '97 with another 12" on kick ass records. the production was supported by lyvio g., who already made some noise with his people without shoes crew. i'm not sure what they dropped after the second kick ass record, all i've seen was another 12" called "nik nak" with mic geronimo from around 2000. i think they have changed their name to official darcsyde now.

my joints here are "moneycide" and "all about the cash". (the moneycide track will be upped another time)

DARCSYDE 12" '9x

1. ALL ABOUT THE CASH

DARCSYDE 12" '97

pitch black

these guys don't need a big introduction. i decided to post their first three releases here.

nightmare, g-man, fast kid & g.o.d. formed pitch black back in '94 and had their debut release one year later. with "hold me down" and "ashes to ashes" they put out an underground bomb with both cuts being produced by rich blak of the beatminerz.

PITCH BLACK 12" '95

1. HOLD ME DOWN
2. ASHES TO ASHES

two years later they made noise with a new ep with three new joints. again, this was produced by rich blak and put out on clear wax.

PITCH BLACK EP '97

2. I GOTCHA BACK (AKA HOLD ME DOWN)
3. ANALYZE THE PROGRAM
4. POLITIKIN

in '98 they got together with lord finesse to record their third release called "show & prove" which got pressed on clear wax as well.

PITCH BLACK 12" '98

1. SHOW & PROVE

d.g., devious, fast, g.o.d. and zakee returned in 2003 with primo's "it's all real" joint and released their debut lp in '04 entitled "pitch black law"

mafioso chapter

a 12" i really dig since i got it. the four-members-strong group mafioso chapter delivers three solid tracks on this record from '96 on incarcerated records from ny i think. all tracks were produced by calogero "the great" who also produced for shyheim and r.a. the rugged man. i don't know if they ever released another record.

"money ambitions" and "whats left" are my joints!

MAFIOSO CHAPTER 12" '96

1. CRIME FAMILY
2. MONEY AMBITIONS

boot kamp

first record from the north-east on crates of ag . this is boot kamp from milwaukee. obviously not related to the other boot camp. they released this 3-tracker around '94 i guess. i only like one cut on this 12", but my guess is not even that one will please a lot of you. anyway...i like "fresh fest '94"- but probably not everyone's gusto. weird one.

BOOT KAMP 12" '94

1. FRESH FEST '94
2. BEEF REMIX
3. CROTCHES
